Gold and Marrow really are a Canadian indie folk duo composed of singer Shannon Rose, also guitarist Steven James. Their songs shows a love of soulful classic folk, and contrasts with tenderness and strength.
Rose's persuasive voice and careful songcraft type the center of the ten-song recording, Forever .
Rose and James' venture extends beyond audio, as a real life bunch. A fantastic illustration of opposites attracting, each takes on various roles inside the music, and their chemistry offers healthy levels of creative stress. It was James' psychologist that convinced Rose to carry out her ancient bedroom demos, and ever since that time they have been inseparable as collaborators in music and in life.
Gold and Marrow have toured across Canada and at the U.K. with festival dates in Ottawa Folkfest, RBC Bluesfest and NXNE. They've been the recipients of arts funding in the City of Ottawa and the Ontario Arts Council, in Addition to a mentorship with Basia Bulat. Their record was recorded in Bova Lab (Feist, Bahamas, Zeus).
